What is the Traveling Campus?
The Traveling Campus is a new way of bringing NO-COST, high-quality training to newspapers in the Southeastern U.S. They are generally marketed to newspapers within 100 miles. Each session lasts just three hours, limiting time out of the office and cutting travel expenses.

What does the Traveling Campus offer?
The Traveling Campus offers training sessions for all major newspaper departments. Topics are applicable to both daily and non-daily newspapers of all circulation sizes.

Who sponsors the Traveling Campus?
The Traveling Campus is organized by the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association Foundation and is co-sponsored by your state press association. These programs can be offered free to newspaper employees because of a generous grant from the Knight Foundation.

Who can attend?
The SNPA Foundation Traveling Campus is for newspaper employees. Newspapers can send as many employees to as many sessions as they choose. Advance reservations are needed to assure seats.

How much does it cost?
There is no charge for employees of SNPA member newspapers to attend any of the Traveling Campus sessions. Employees of State Press Association non-daily newspapers can also attend at no charge. Daily newspapers that are not SNPA members must become members to participate in the Traveling Campus Program My newspaper is not a member of SNPA.

How do we join?
Membership in SNPA is limited to daily newspapers and dues are based on daily net-paid circulation. To apply for membership, your publisher should contact our director of member services, Cindy Durham, at 404-256-0444.

How do we register?
First, it is important to designate a contact person for your department or newspaper. This person will be responsible for determining the total seat requests. Although all Traveling Campus sessions are free, seats are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis. Once you have the total seat requests, simply fax this sheet to 404-252-9135.

Is there a limit to the number of seats we can reserve?
While there is no limit to the number of seats that can be reserved, the number of attendees should equal the number of seats reserved. If it is determined that more seats are needed after your initial reservation has been made, please call us. We’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Have other questions?
Call Graham Kimbrough at (404) 256-0444.
